Soy Nashville

Making Soy Milk
Originally uploaded by tmonkey.

Got home today and had a nice lunch with Melvin, Karin, and the whole fam. Afterwards, my Mom was making soymilk with her cool machine, which takes the soaked soybeans, purees them with water and extracts the pulp. After this first step (in the picture), the milk is still raw (it tastes green) so next she boils it with some sugar and then filters it after that. Et voila! I bet you could do the same with other kinds of beans to make other kinds of milk...hmmm, like green bean milk, lima milk, and kidney milk. Ew. Maybe garbonzo milk. Maybe.
